The inspiration of God’s written word in the Holy Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God, inerrant in its original writing. 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 The existence of a personal, triune God We believe in one sovereign God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4; John 10:30, 33; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Romans 8:9; John 14:16, 18, 23 The origin, purpose and fall of man We believe that God made man in his own image and designed him to rule over creation, but man rebelled against God’s order, fell from his original state of righteousness and plunged the entire human race into a state of spiritual death and separation from God. Genesis 1:26, 27; Romans 5:12 The deity, humanity, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his death on the cross in the place of sinful man, his bodily resurrection, and his ascension to the right hand of the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 The salvation and restoration of fallen man We believe that the blood Jesus shed on the cross when he died paid the price to atone for man’s sin and makes a way, by faith, for man to be forgiven, spiritually born again as a child of God, and restored into the purpose for which God originally created man. 1 Corinthians 15:22; John 1:12; Ephesians 2:6; Daniel 7:18, 27 |
The ministry of the Holy Spirit
We believe in the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit to regenerate spiritual life in man, to transform sinful natures, to reveal God’s contemporaneous will and word, and to equip and empower man for service and witness. Titus 3:4-6; Romans 8:9, 15, 16; John 16:13; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Acts 1:8 The existence and mission of Christ’s church We believe that one, holy, Christian church is the Body of Christ, that Jesus Christ is the head of this Body, and that Christ commissioned the Church to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God and to disciple all nations in obedience to Christ. Ephesians 2:22; 1 Corinthians 12:12, 13; Colossians 1:18; Matthew 28:19-20 The final judgment and eternal existence of humans We believe in the bodily resurrection of all human beings, both the saved and the lost; to everlasting blessedness and fulfillment for the saved, and to everlasting punishment and frustration for the lost. Matthew 25:31-46 The return of Jesus Christ to earth We believe in the blessed hope that Jesus Christ will return to this earth personally, visibly and unexpectedly in power and great glory to unite in marriage with his bride the Church, to fully establish his Kingdom on earth, and to unite with the saints of all ages in reigning over that Kingdom. Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17; Matthew 26:29; Revelation 11:15; Daniel 7:13, 14 |
